The start of building our house.

GREEN ON "  Approval from Kommune arrived, now we can start building our House

AFTER 9 MONTHS RESEARCH, HOMEWORK, COUNTLESS MEETINGS, THE TIME HAS ARRIVED TO START BUILDING OUR HOUSE HERE : Tomt/Land på Talgje   Location

  
Weekend 17th January 2014.

Digging up drain´s , water, electricity, fiber, telephone cables and install new extensions for same in to the foundation area of the house.

Dig up old Drains, electric, fiber etc and replace to new

Flattened building area, level out first layer of gravel and compress outlining of the foundation

All necessary drainage, electric, fiber, water and telephone renewed and extended to the foot print of the house. Top layer of "single laid out and outline of the house compacted and ready for the ring muur. 

The Next Day.

Lay out Wooden frame for ring muur.

15:00hr. Ring muur arrives

A little bit snow and minus temperatures makes you work harder

22:15 ring muur is set and in please.  

Next Morning

There we are, start to look like a foundation

A couple hrs later the cement truck pulls up

Beton in place " Happy Days!


Time to go home and sleep.

Day 6.

News from the Post man, "A package arrived for you guys............

I think i have the best parents in the world ! "Thanks Mom & Dad. 

Day 7. 

Elektric and Plummer extending their work in to the designated places.

Looks like spaghetti but it will be fine

Last layer of single over the electrical and water lines.

Time to pack up and secure the building site, work is calling.

Some time has gone by, back from work and in the mean time lost my phone were all the pictures from the progress where on. It's April now and soon the building of the house will start.........

Below some pics i could recover from my phone from the Isolation material and the electrical heat cables that were positioned on the metal mats prior to the concrete was pored in to the foundation.

These are all the pic´s i could recover from my "past away" phone, Lots of Isopur isolation and a zillion tie wraps to connect the heat cables to the metal mats. Big help from Olav Vetre for giving me a hand. Thanks Bud!

By now the concrete has been pored and leveled inside the foundation wall. making it a finished foundation and floor for the house.

May 2nd. Start with the construction of the free standing column in the house which will function as a foundation for the 2nd floor and for the roof.

Inner wall in place. Start with the armering (re-bar)

3th May. Finishing the metal work.

Metal work finished, tomorrow the outside boarding.

4th May Laying drains for the roof and ground water. 

It was a good day, drains are done.

5th May. completing the outer wall for poring the free standing column.

 Build the supporting skeleton around the column construction, concrete tomorrow.

Time to go home.

 

11th May.

The concrete has been pored and is now drying. in 2 days the "forskaling" will be removed. Meanwhile i started on the inner and outer walls of the house. 

I have been Sawing ........sawing........ sssssawing all day at the timber workshop in Fogn.

Needless to say what this is........

Start building the inner and outer walls. But first sawing, sawwwwing , a lot of ssssaaawwwing.

No I & II down, 30 to go.

Something did not go according to plan........

Took a day off and back in action, was very lucky!

Walls everywhere now, nearly completed all the inner and outer walls. The weather could not be better!

Start adding the gips to the outerwalls, after that the Tyvekk sheets and mouse band. Yeah that´s right.........."mouseband. Just ask me what that is.



Nearing the end

Workshop starts to get cramped. Walls are nearly done. Soon Summer holiday.

It is now 2 Sep, summer holidays are over and the building the actual house has started 3 weeks ago. Moving along fast :-)



At the end of the day our Lithuanian builders build the HIGHEST point of the house. Fantastic achievment by  Saulius&Irmantas

What we have here is a  Lithuanian Oak Crown with a wooden Apple and a wooden Bottle. This is their traditional was to celibrate the highest point nof a house. "Lets see tomorrow if they leave it in peace or hang a pigs head in it. "thanks a lot guys! We appreciate it a lot!

Sunday 13th September

The weather is stil fantastic! Saulius&Irmantas have achieved a lot this past week.

The roof has been wrapped and tightened/closed off.

Some traditional Lithuanian coocking was attempted by the kitchen Princess, Siska tried to make Cepelinai & Saltibarsciai. It was not to the standard to the mom of Saulius&Irmants but it was very nice!  "We promise nextt time it will be perfecto guys :-)

Love the look of the Roof!

The content is measured to see if the house can be sealed of.

  

All the wood has been measured and approved! Result: all the wood has a moist content of less then 16%. The house can be wrapped/sealed.

One last time our view from the litchen, from now on every thing wil be blocked till the windows are comming.

After many meters of Tyvek the house is now completely wrapped/sealed.

Meanwhile the roof has been sealed. 

How lucky can we be! No rain for the last 4 weeks, house is now weather proof.

 

The isolation has arrived. Saulius&Irmantas love this! 

And this is not everything........

This is a serious amount of isolation.

5th October

A lot of progress has been made, the house is now fully isolated, sealing on 2nd floor has been wrapped in plastic. The rør legger/plumber has started to connect the water system in to the house. All drains, connection points, shower points & sink points are in place  on the bathrooms Technical room, sleeping rooms and wash room. 

The electricians have started 2 days ago and will be finished in another 3 days. The whole house is nearly equipped with our tailer made connection points for the wall and ground sockets. Internet connections are hidden in the ground. 

The windows have arrived a couple of days ago. It scared us a little bit to see how much came of the truck............

We have to re-think the "who is cleaning the windows part.....
